  • Download the latest version of WebCopier for Linux and save it to your home folder.

  • The downloaded file should be named webcopier_linux.tar.gz, or webcopier_linux_reg.tar.gz.

  • Open up a terminal window and enter the following (replace yourusername with your actual user name):
    tar -C /home/yourusername -xzvf webcopier_linux*.tar.gz

  • This command extracts the contents of the package to your home folder and places the files in /home/yourusername/webcopier directory.

  • Modify default desktop entry file webcopier.desktop included in the installation by opening it your preferred text editor, for example gedit:
    gedit /home/yourusername/webcopier/webcopier.desktop

  • In the following lines replace yourusername with your actual user name:

    Exec="/home/yourusername/webcopier/webcopier"
    Icon=/home/yourusername/webcopier/icons/wc_linux_icon_64.png

  • Also, you can choose between different WebCopier icons by changing wc_linux_icon_64.png to any icon file name, located in /home/yourusername/webcopier/icons/ directory.

  • This creates a desktop shortcut to run WebCopier.

  • Feel free to drag it on to your panel or desktop to make it more convenient to access.
